I started dj'ing dnb about two years ago, after falling in love with the decks at some drunk homeparty, where I first gave it a try. A few weeks later I bought my own decks and mixer and started scouting for records. Quite a bummer was that at that time I was in boarding school, making practice only possible during the weekend. That problem is now solved, cause I'm in university now. First I liked more liquid dnb, because I thought at that moment that it was more musical. Getting bored after some time I started of with a more jump-up sound. After seeing a set of goldie at Star Warz in Ghent, I started buying more metalheadz vibes and breakbeat dnb. But as the old grey beardy men say: with time comes wisdom. That wisdom is that it's al about the selection! Technique alone doesn't stand out long, not saying that you don't need it, but still... That's why I recently expanded my set to three decks to make a more eclectic selection possible, so that you can jump from commix to spirit, to a hospital-like-sound and back, keeping a perpetual vibe, made possible by almost constant doubledrops. Three decks really opened my horizons! references: The Machine (Bombastik), Soundcheck, jh spiraal (full bass ahead, night of crime), ecliptica, jh de jos (gejost)... I have played alongside Grimelock (Pure Belgian dubstep/grime), ms. wildchild, owner of wildstyle recordings, also with dj protone, haze, doc p, triple c crew, fuzz, scypus, syntopia kru, link, noijz, fictive chaos, manyak from the junglist kru, with great rhymes and vocal support (big up and shouts for that) by mc Ebony!! Big ups!!! Feel free to download my mixes, they stand in the blog section.

I came in touch with drum and bass at the age of 14 when i saw a gig by roni size at the pukkelpop festival. I was stunned by the fact that music could create so much energy in a crowd and needed more of this immediatly. A friend of mine (Andres aka DJ Protone) from the local skatespot who was a head for a couple of years allready provided me of the latest sets by artists like shy fx, dj friction, dj marky, dj flight, fabio,...so i learned to know lots of new artists and tunes. Also started to go out more and more to parties like stealthbombers and petrol dnb nights. Last year i took it to the turntables to play the tunes i like the most and i enjoy myself pretty much with it. I play all kinds of drum and bass since i just like all kinds of drum and bass, allthough i prefer to listen the more funky/jazzy/deep stuff when i'm at home. If you catch a set by me you're more likely going to hear tunes from artists such as Digital, alix perez, icicle & switch, nymfo, equinox, special forces, calibre, tactile, teebee, roni size and lots more. From liquid to some more techy rollers to some jungle and back again. I am also a part of the mental research crew. We have a weekly radioshow on www.destroyer.net on tuesday from 19h till 21h, so feel free to tune in once in a while for some quality jungle/drum and bass! We also have our own partyconcept which takes place in MS Hoeve, Deurne (near Antwerp). For more info on that you can check my blog section. played alongside dj's such as: iridium, alert & hidious, kaytodad & d-lux, vicelord, utreg massive crew, scypus, syntopia, deft & vanic, netsky, dafteq, recoil, skitz, mofe crew, soi, dustrickx, solpher,... Yipikayee!!

//MC Ebony// Coming from a mixed background of punk, new wave , elektro, and hip hop I started to have interest in this sound ..., the jungle sound, hearing it at the record store of a friend (Fried chicken/Cuttin’ edge Antwerp around the period 95- 98. I was mc-in with Dj Knowledge doing’ some hip hop shows and freestyle battles with friends. As I discovered Jungle it changed my whole view on music, going to my first underground jungle party to mc-ing on the first tune woow! A friend of mine (big up DJ Sith) bought quite a lot of tunes that time and I always hooked up with him to practice on these wicked wicked tunes from that time/ you have to imagine that in that period almost everything that came out was really received with ooooooooooooooooh ’s & aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah’s , it was the new time ( like when dupstep just emerged) but even more groundbreaking I just wanted to mc on it as it was such a total sound for me I just loved it and never stopped doing’ it. After hosting some party’s with friends I got in contact with B-Major ( You’re my hero Bro!)and we started doing sets as B-Major and Mc Ebony for quite a while, afterwards it switched to Ground Kontrol ( B-Major/ DJ Sith/ Mc Ebony) We played at the legendary BOUPS radio in Brussels (www.boups.com) regurly and also on a lot of crazy free-party’s they organized. ( The first one under a bridge of a Highway in the middle of Brussels and the legendary free party in TOUR & TAXIS in 2001). In that time (2001-2003) we had been playing in a big part of Belgium ( It’s Like A Jungle, Ten Days Off, Inside, Unrezt, Bass Boogie, Warm -up for Full Cycle in the AB Brussels/ emceed b2b with mc Dynamite wicked!! And had the chance to host a set for Suv!, Nightcruiser, Hof ter Loo warm-up for Goldie/Loxy/Doc Scott, played on switch Stubru, and a lot more smaller parties around the country) We continued our shows on Sunday on Boups and as we installed our base on a secret spot in Antwerp to do some live Sunday shows over the internet ,we connected with the Jungletrain crew ( Big up Josh hill and all the crew) were we did some hilarious shows which was great fun. In this period(2002 -2003) B-Major hooked up with Vince to start Motion Theory ( Gain, Signal) and at this time they started to organize the Rinse! parties ( Antwerp) These parties were groundbreaking and an experience academy for me as I had the chance to learn a lot and mc with a quite a few big names ( Dom & Roland , Kemal, Sketch & Code, Skinny, Paul B & Reset, Special K, Pyro, Vector Burn, Black Sun Empire,Generation Dub on stealth Bombers and many others) I also had the chance to meet up with a lot of our local talent ( Crossfire, Millenium Kru, Motion Theory J, Murdock, System-D, Juice Blenders , Wontime, Shorty & Mc Ricky D, Lady Vortex, Miss Elorak ( Big up) Naya Sound System haha good times good times ( big up Kaliba), Brekbit ( nice to see you on Drumderground). After this hectic d&b period I (2003 - 2004) I took a breather and hooked up with Moodlex and started to do more other music orientated dj and live sets( Laundry Day, Petrol)( allround electronic music) until the point we got and still are on full live band level ( more about that on www.moodlex.com or www.myspace.com/moodlex ), I met with AK Crew around this time doing gigs with them ,it was great fun ( absolutely smashing’ set at Soul Shine 2005 !!) Right about now it’s full on emcee time with the teddy machinegun project (www.myspace.com/teddymachinegun) and several gigs with different dj’s ( drumderground crew/ Basspoint/ Tito & Echo Virus / thanks guys for the support !!!,Scypus ,my main man Tracksta/Daily, Protone, Motion Theory , the bug is itchin’ again and the love is there forever. Special shout to Blarney and Mc Shaydee, Bau ( you’ve been there from day one man never forget), and all the Antwerp crew that are always there ( MatthiaskiBeestJuniorAntoonStadsparkcrewNickArnoYvesJurgenalltheladiesconnected) Ow and the name Mc Ebony... Me and a friend we had a breakdance crew and we both skated so we thought comparing are breakdance styles to wood types so we ended up callin’ ourselves Maple & Ebony, after we broke up the breakdance crew I kept the name for nostalgic reasons. //Akwiezz// I’ve been dj-ing and making music for a couple of years now. Mostly jungle and drum&bass , altough the last year i have been making more down-tempo related stuff than jungle. i’ve posted some examples of my music down , or is it up?, here and invite you to have a listen. the dj thingie; At first i first played a lot of my sets alone. After that, i formed bombscare sound together with dj cedex and for the moment i’m part of Sense of Necessity also with cedex and dj skamz. Bombscare focuses more on some ragga-jungle jungle style of breakbeats, while when dj’ing with Sense of Necessity everything with a breakbeat will do.
